Dear Sundance Hills Sailfish Families,

Do you realize that Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday?

This can only mean one thing:

It’s time for another reminder about our upcoming 2023 Sundance Sailfish season!!

In case you missed our message last time, here are a few details you should know about. (We’ve also included a few new details, so be sure to read what’s below. Please.)

Registration

To give the Sailfish Board more time to plan in response to actual registration numbers, we are going to run registration a little differently this year. Here’s what that will look like for you:

• Wednesday, March 1 - registration opens online at https://sailfish.swimtopia.com. You will NOT be able to sign up for your required volunteer shifts at this point. You will NOT be able to register for your pool membership by this date, You WILL be required to do both of these things before the season starts.
• Sunday, April 2 - Open house and swimsuit fitting in the Sailfish Room. Time is TBD.
• Sunday, April 16, 12:00 noon - Volunteer shift sign up opens online at https://sailfish.swimtopia.com.
• Monday, May 15 - Families that have not signed up for their volunteer shifts will be charged the $500 opt-out fee.

2023 Meets & Calendar of Events

We’re currently updating our website (https://sailfish.swimtopia.com) for the 2023 season. Until we’ve got everything updated, you can find our 2023 Calendar of Events by clicking on the “News” tab at the top of the screen.

T-Shirt Design

We would love to have the 2023 Sundance Sailfish shirt feature a design from one of our swimmers! Please email any designs to [email protected] by February 17, 2023.

Coaches

Do you or someone you know want to be a Sundance Coach? If you will be 16 years old and have completed your Sophomore year of high school by May 2023, you can apply to be a coach! We are looking for responsible and caring individuals who have competitive swim experience, transportation to and from Sundance and league pools, a positive, team-player attitude and can serve the team from May 15 - July 15, 2023, we invite you to apply by filling out this questionnaire by February 17, 2023.

If you will be 15 years of age and will have completed your Freshman year of high school by the May 2023 swim season, you can apply to be a Sundance Volunteer Coach! If you fit the description above and understand that this is a volunteer (unpaid) position that teaches you how to become a paid coach in the future, apply by filling out this questionnaire by March 17, 2023.

If you will have completed at least one year of summer swim team and 6th grade by May 2023, you can apply to be a Sundance Skipper, a coach for our young Mudskippers! Skippers are expected to be in the water with our 4-6 year old swimmers to teach them the basics of swimming. This is a volunteer (unpaid) position that is a stepping stone to becoming a future Sundance coach. Apply by filling out this questionnaire by April 28, 2023.

Looking for a Few Good Stroke Judges

While we won’t be having volunteer shift sign up until April, we are now starting to look for a handful of people to fill our stroke judge positions. If you sign up and serve as a stroke judge, this job will serve as your volunteer shifts for the season. We will give you some training through the league, but it definitely helps if you have swam competitively at some point in your life.
