Time to Swim, Sailfish! Our FUN MEET has arrived and we want to see EVERYONE there! Join us at the Sundance Pool tomorrow night @6 pm sharp, Thursday, June 1! WHAT TO EXPECT AT A SWIM MEET
If you’ve never been to a swim meet and are unsure of what to expect, please see the attached .pdf - “What to Expect…”
For those of you who have been to our swim meets many times over, please take a look as well. We have a new request as to what to write on your swimmer’s arms. Please take a look!
SEVEN YEAR AWARDS
We are so proud of our community of swimmers and during the End of Year Banquet, we would like to acknowledge our swimmers who have been with us for seven years. Please add your swimmer's name to this Google Sheet. If you have any questions, please contact Lydia-Ann Champeau, our Clerk of Course. We count all 7 years of swimming (even Mudskippers) and also during those "funny" summers with COVID. Looking forward to celebrating this amazing achievement with you!

- Thank you for your patience as we try out this new process. We will make adjustments if we hear from you that adjustments are needed.
TEAM EMAILS FOR 11-18 YEAR OLDS
Would you like your 11-18 year old swimmer to receive team emails? Several of you have requested, and we are happy to oblige. This could be particularly useful if you have an older kid who needs to know when practices are cancelled for weather, etc. Please complete this form, and we will add your swimmer’s email to our lists.
HAS ANYONE SEEN MY GOGGLES?
Swimmers- make sure you have your goggles ready for each meet! This year we will be selling a small supply of goggles for emergencies, but due to price increases they will be more expensive than in years past. We would recommend that you order goggles ahead of time through our link on the website, MI Sports in person, Amazon, or any other swim store!
BIG FISH/LITTLE FISH
We have posted the list of Fish Families on our website. (It is also posted at the pool).
Here are this week's Fish Family Activities:
1) Find your Fish Family/Big/Little and say HELLO!!! If you need help, let us know and we can find a way to connect you. Before or after practice is a good time to connect.
2) Look for the Spirit table at Friday practice, and make a card for your Fish Family (Big/Little).
2) Find your Fish Family (Big/Little), and come to the team tent for a photo! We have fun props too!
3) Cheer on your Fish Family at the Fun Meet and first meet this weekend! If you can't be at the meet, let your Fish Family know and/or find a friend to cheer for them!
Please contact Natalie if us know if you have any questions.
SUPER SWIMMER RECOGNITION
We want to be able to recognize when a swimmer does something that made them a "Super Swimmer." It is a way to recognize individual goals and accomplishments of a swimmer, and we understand that we have a wide range of swimmer skills and swimmer goals. This is something the swimmer is working on or means something to the swimmer. This is for mudskippers too!!!
Some examples of being a "Super Swimmer"
- Beating a time
- Overcoming a fear and racing in a race
- Swimming in an event they have never done before or swimming a stroke they have never done before
- Doing a relay for the first time
- Swimming without a coach in the water
- Swimming a race without DQing
- Being brave when heating
- Getting in the water or putting face in the water
- Breaking a record
- Any type of challenge or goal that the swimmer is working on.
When your swimmer has an accomplishment that they want recognized, please email Natalie Messersmith about the accomplishment and other pertinent information. Please submit by Sunday of each week, and the swimmer will receive something small in their folders (that hold the ribbons) later in the week.
CALLING ALL BIG KIDS
The Big Kids program is back this year and better than ever! We have a ton of fun events planned, and new ways to communicate events so you and your Big Kid can stay in the loop. If you have a Sailfish swimmer that is a rising 7th grader or older, please take the following steps:
- Check out our new Big Kids page! This will be updated as we add events throughout the year.
- Fill out this Google form! This will ensure that both you and your Big Kids have a finger on the pulse of all things Big Kids this year.
- Order merch! Check out the Big Kid only merch available on the Big Kids page.
- Talk up the Big Kids program with your kids. We know they'll have a great time hanging with their friends outside the pool and we want to get them excited about it!
That’s the news for this edition of the Sailfish SCOOP.
(YES - Lots to cover at the start of a season…)
