Sailfish SCOOP - July 12, 2023

    HELLO SAILFISH!!!

Happy Prelims/Finals Week! So many good swims happening at Prelims this week. If you have not seen the results on the Swimtopia App, we will be sending all of them after the conclusion of the 11-12 meet tomorrow. Look for them to come tomorrow evening if we receive them in time to send them out. If not, they’ll come your way on Friday.

Here are some important SCOOPS for this Wednesday that you want to be sure to read…

ROOT BEER FLOATS AND MOHAWKS - FRIDAY, JULY 14 from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Close out the end of prelims week & celebrate our athletes who made it to the championship meet by joining us at Sundance Pool on Friday at 4:00 pm. This celebration is a long standing team tradition. ALL swimmers and families are welcome to enjoy root beer floats. Traditionally, many swimmers voluntarily get Mohawks or color their hair in temporary team colors….this is, thankfully, not required. We'll supply the clippers. We will have markers on hand for car decorating. We want the RMSL teams to know Sundance is in the parking lot!

    See you there!

FINALS MEET - SATURDAY, JULY 15, at CCV

We will be sending heat sheets on Friday. Even if you aren’t swimming, come out and cheer along our team! This pool is VERY CLOSE to our neighborhood - take a walk over for a bit and cheer on our amazing swimmers. Let’s show the rest of the league what Sailfish team spirit looks like!

🤘 END OF SEASON BANQUET  🤘

Are you ready for a SAILFISH INVASION?

End of Season Sailfish Banquet | Saturday, July 15, 2023, 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm.

To close our season, we are planning to 🎸ROCK THE NIGHT AWAY at our annual end-of-season banquet. If you purchased tickets, we'll be offering a buffet dinner catered by Cafe Rio, and gourmet dipped gelato pops for dessert. We’ll also have the chance to 🕺GET OUR GROOVE ON 🕺🏻.

    A few FYIs:

    • This event is BYOB. PLEASE - NO GLASS CONTAINERS (Wine and in a box or can, anyone?)
    • We’re told that concessions may have a few drinks for purchase. Bring your cash for this if you’re interested.
    • If you didn’t purchase tickets for the banquet, please join us anyway - bring your own food - we will NOT have extra food available for purchase on site.
    • If you have food allergy concerns, please contact Colleen Kaufman with any questions you have.

** LAST CHANCE** COACHES’ GIFTS **LAST CHANCE**

At the end of each season, we collect cash gifts for our coaches. We’ll distribute them at our end-of-season banquet. If you would like to contribute, you can contribute on our website. (Go to the website, log in, and choose “Online Store.” You will see the Coaches’ Gifts available there. Please note that you can select more than one denomination and more than one of any listed denomination to add up to the total amount you want to contribute.) These gifts, though totally optional, are greatly appreciated by our hard-working coaches and volunteer coaches. In order to prepare the gifts for distribution, we will close these items at 12 noon on Friday, July

**LAST CHANCE** SUPER SWIMMERS **LAST CHANCE**

Don't forget to let us know about any Super Swimmers!

Here are the Super Swimmer details again.

We want to be able to recognize when a swimmer does something that made them a "Super Swimmer." It is a way to recognize individual goals and accomplishments of a swimmer, and we understand that we have a wide range of swimmer skills and swimmer goals. This is something the swimmer is working on or means something to the swimmer. This is for mudskippers too!!!

Some examples of being a "Super Swimmer"

    1. Beating a time
    2. Overcoming a fear and racing in a race
    3. Swimming in an event they have never done before or swimming a stroke they have never done before
    4. Doing a relay for the first time
    5. Swimming without a coach in the water
    6. Swimming a race without DQing
    7. Being brave when heating
    8. Getting in the water or putting face in the water
    9. Breaking a record
    10. Any type of challenge or goal that the swimmer is working on.

When your swimmer has an accomplishment that they want recognized, please email Natalie Messersmith about the accomplishment and other pertinent information. Please submit by FRIDAY this week, and the swimmer will receive something small in their folders (that hold the ribbons) later in the week.

    🎉 FUNDRAISING RESULTS 🎉

Thanks to all who participated in our three restaurant fundraising events. The totals we earned are as follows:

    • Illegal Pete’s: $1107.00
    • Mod Market $289.61
    • Bad Daddy's $1366.20

We have a couple of big ticket purchases coming up, including new lane ropes, new lane rope storage device, new flags, some new tents, and a trophy case. (The trophy case just got moved to the back burner with the other more immediate needs, but it is on the wishlist.) These funds give us a very good start on paying for these items and minimizing increases to our registration fees. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED THESE RESTAURANT NIGHTS!

That’s all for tonight, Sailfish! Thanks for all of your support!

Life is better when you are swimming!
