Sailfish SCOOP - 06.01.2024
HELLO SAILFISH FAMILY!!!
How about that meet today?! We’ve got much to be proud of. Ya’ll are very good at swimming! Some might even say that you are eFISHient. Coach Henry will be sending a recap tomorrow. In the meantime, how about a Sailfish SCOOP?
SUPER SWIMMERS!!!
The Super Swimmer Program is designed to recognize the individual goals and accomplishments of each swimmer. This is a way to acknowledge and celebrate accomplishments, whether they are major milestones or smaller, personal victories. We know our team caters to a wide range of swimmer skills and goals, and being recognized as a Super Swimmer is a way to ensure each swimmer feels valued and motivated. This is for mudskippers too!!!
Some examples of being a "Super Swimmer" are:
- Personal best time
- Overcoming a fear
- Swimming a new event or stroke in a meet
- Swimming in a relay for the first time
- Swimming without a coach in the water
- Swimming a race without DQing
- Getting in the water or putting face in the water
- Breaking a record
- Any type of challenge or goal that the swimmer is working on.
When your swimmer has an accomplishment that you or they want recognized, please email NATALIE MESSERSMITH what the accomplishment was and any details about it ([email protected]). Let her know by Wednesday of each week!!!
EVENING PRACTICES SIGN UP - JUNE 3 & 5
We will once again be offering evening practices for those swimmers who have other morning commitments, such as camp. These practices will be on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. We will be posting the sign up for each week’s evening practices in the Sailfish SCOOP on Tuesday of the week prior to these practices.
Here is the SIGN UP for evening practices on June 3 and 5.
You must sign up in advance if you wish to attend these practices because we only have space for 18 swimmers. If you practice in the morning, you do not need to attend evening practices. Mudskippers may not attend evening practices.
We will use 3 lanes for this practice and the Sundance Pool will remain open for families and other swimmers. Come watch your kid practices and then dinner at the pool when you’re finished!
VOLUNTEER REMINDERS - SWITCHING SHIFTS & CONCESSIONS SHIFTS
If you need to switch a volunteer shift, email TARA ZIMMERMAN and KAKIE ATWELL with the shift you are picking up and the one you cannot make. If you do not have a replacement shift identified, it is your responsibility to find coverage for your shift. If you can't find coverage, consider hiring a teenager 16 years of age or older. Also, if you are a concession stand volunteer, please do not have your children assist during your shift. We know it's fun, but we want to make sure adults are the ones dealing with the money and food. Thank you!
FISH FAMILIES!!!
Hey Fish Families! Your first challenge is to find your Big and Little Fish, and email NATALIE MESSERSMITH pictures of your Fish Families. Also, spend some time with your Fish Family at the Spirit Table at meets or at practices on Fridays.
Remember the Big Fish, Little Fish program is designed to build relationships, camaraderie, and team spirit between the age groups. The program is not about elaborate gifts – it is about actions and behavior. It is about being a supportive teammate!
Things you can do:
- CREATE- Write your Big/ Little Fish a note, draw a picture, or make a friendship bracelet! Use your talents to inspire your Big/ Little Fish to swim fast and psych them up for a great meet!
- CHEER - Be the loudest and most supportive teammate on the pool deck!
- AT THE POOL- If you are at the pool, meet up for some fun. Go for a swim (Big Fish can help Little Fish with their strokes), a walk, or even a snack together.
