Sailfish SCOOP - 06.25.2024

    AHOY SAILFISH FAMILY!!!

I hope it’s not too hot for you all!!! If it is, there’s a respite ahead. 😎

If you’re thinking that respite is our annual team outing to Pirate’s Cove ☠️, you are 100 percent correct! More on that later in this edition of the SCOOP. You’ll also find some good pirate puns threaded throughout — so be sure to read it all very carefully. There will be a test next week. (Maybe…) 😉

Here’s your SCOOP for this Tuesday…

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR SWIMMING UNDER THE STARS

What’s a pirates favorite Sailfish social event? Why, it’s “Swimming Under the StARRRRRRs of course! And this is your last chance to RSVP! (ARRRR SVP?) The event is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 26, from 5:30-9:00 PM. Enjoy a Team Potluck and (back by popular demand) Cookie Bake-Off (Chips Ahoy! anyone?) followed by some well-deserved splash-about fun for ALL swimmers, their families, and their coaches. Good food, friendly competition, team building, prizes and, of course, the best summer memories Sundance has to offer. Can't wait to see you there! RSVP HERE

DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS FOR STONEGATE MEET

A reminder to all that you need to declare your swimmers for this Saturday’s meet by 5:00 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, June 19. Forget how? LOOK HERE

A NOTE: Per league rules, if your swimmer wishes to swim in prelims (and possibly finals), they must swim in a minimum of two regular season swim meets to be eligible. So, if your child has not yet met this eligibility requirement, they only have this Saturday’s meet at Stonegate left to do so. (And if you’re wondering, Stongate’s pool is 25 meters long. Pirates say “boooo!” To that. Pirates prefer yarrrrrrrds, you know. No pirates at Stonegate.)

    EVENING PRACTICE SIGN-UP - JULY 1

Here is the SIGN UP for evening practice next Monday, July 1. (No evening practice next Wednesday, July 3 because of an HOA event at the pool that evening.)

You must sign up in advance if you wish to attend these practices because we only have space for 18 swimmers. If you practice in the morning, you do not need to attend evening practices. Mudskippers may not attend evening practices.

We will use 3 lanes for this practice and the Sundance Pool will remain open for families and other swimmers. Come watch your kid practices and then dinner at the pool when you’re finished.

SEVEN YEAR AWARD WINNERS - LAST CALL

At our end-of-season banquet each year we recognize swimmers who have been on the team for 7 years. If this year is your child’s seventh year as a Sailfish, please let our Clerk of Course, Rachel Langley know by Wednesday, June 26 (that’s tomorrow!). You can either EMAIL or text Rachel at 303-854-8280 will have been on the team

Rachel will need the following information:

    1. First and last name of swimmer
    2. Swimmer birth year
    3. Parent first and last name

We count all 7 years of swimming (even Mudskippers) and also during those "funny" summers with COVID.

If you have any questions, please let Rachel know.

PRELIMS ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER

Shiver me timbers!!!! It's time to declare your swimmers for Prelims. As a reminder, you have to have swam in two regular season meets (Just for Fun meet does not count) in order to swim in prelims. Registration closes on July 2nd at 4:00 pm. Visit our Meets and Events tab to learn when age group Prelims are and keep an eye out for a detailed Prelim/Finals email this weekend.

    PIRATE’S COVE - THIS SUNDAY

Who doesn’t love a lazy river full of your favorite Sailfish families? Please join us at Pirate’s Cove this Sunday, June 30, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. ALL Sailfish Swimmers and their immediate family members are welcome. (This includes parents and siblings who are not yet or no longer Sailfish. This event is not open to friends of swimmers.) Pirate’s Cove will not have concessions available, so our advice is to bring your own drinks and snacks, or dinner if you want. (A good pirate would recommend picking up Arrrrrrby’s on the way there. 😉 ) **No glass containers permitted.**

The cost for this event is included in your swim team registration. Looks like we will have warm weather, too, so plan to be there!

Okay Sailfish - That’s all for tonight’s SCOOP.  Have an AMAZING week ahead!’

(One more for the road: Did you know that a true pirate will never have a cell phone? That’s 100 percent accurate. They just use their eye-patch(™️) instead.)

LIFE IS BETTER WHEN YOU ARE SWIMMING!
