Greetings from Columbus, Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), where the Baumann-Clayton clan is spending the weekend with my family, celebrating my nieces high school graduation. I’ve got to say, Ohio is a really good place to be from…

We’ve got a lot to cover this rainy Memorial Day weekend, so let’s get this SCOOP started.

It’s time to declare your swimmers for our first meets! (How exciting is that!)

JUST-FOR-FUN MEET

Wednesday, May 28, 5:30 PM

This is our practice meet - short and sweet. We run a limited set of races to give our swimmers some racing experience in a low-pressure setting. Swimmers should sign up for TWO races - Freestyle and another stroke of their choice. We will not swim relays at this event. (We’ll also be eating lots of pizza from Stefano’s and have a GREAT candy bar for swimmers after their races. See below.)

AWAY MEET AT HOMESTEAD

Saturday, May 31, 8:00 AM

Our first “real” meet of the season. (Somehow our away meets at Homestead always bring snow and chilly temps. Let’s hope for warm weather this year!)

HOW TO REGISTER: 

Look 🚨 HERE 🚨 for all the directions you need.

DEADLINE for declarations for both meets is next Tuesday, May 27, at 12 noon.

(This give you time to speak to your coaches at practices on Tuesday morning if you are unsure about which events you should swim at either meet.)

(Deadlines for subsequent Saturday meets will be the preceding Monday at 12 noon.)

EVENING PRACTICE SIGN-UP

Starting June 2, we will be offering two opportunities for evening practices each week. (As a reminder: per league rules, swimmers need to participate in TWO practices in a week to participate in that week’s meet. We offer two evening opportunities each week for swimmers who are unable to attend a morning practice.) 

Sign-ups for evening practices will appear here each Sunday, for the practices that are still a week away. Evening practices are from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, open to all competitive swimmers regardless of age group, and limited to 18 swimmers. Click the links below to sign up. 

The pool is OPEN during these practices sessions — we only use three lanes for our evening practices. Your family is welcome to come swim while your sailfish practices.

STROKE CLINIC SIGN-UP

Each week, our coaches will offer two stroke clinics for swimmers who wish to work on a specific stroke or skill (e.g., turns, diving off the block). These are completely optional, but are a great way for swimmers improve on the small details that can often boost their success at meets. We’ll have stroke clinics each Tuesday and Thursday during the regular season. Sign-ups for the stroke clinics will go out on Sundays, one week prior to the clinics. Space for each clinic is limited. Sign-up below.

*The cost for stroke clinics is $5 per session, payable directly to the coach leading the clinic.

Join Us for the Totally Tubular "Just For Fun" Meet & Stefano's Restaurant Night!

Hey all you dudes and dudettes! The JUST FOR FUN MEET is THIS Wednesday evening, May 28th from 5:30-7:30 PM for ALL swimmers and families at the Sundance Pool! This FUN Sailfish event is just like a real meet with races but it's not competitive against another team; It's all for fun! Added bonus is it's also our first Restaurant Night - bring your pizza to the pool to enjoy during the practice meet.

Swimmers will only be swimming in the events you sign them up for using the Swimmer Declaration Instructions (see above). Swimmers will be swimming shortened races, just 25s & 50s, to keep things efficient and easy breezy. We are encouraging everyone to make it to this get-together, practice a meet, and all that goes with it--a chance to practice timing, heating, cheering and spending time together! Sign-up & see you there!
