Sailfish SCOOP - Sunday, June 1, 2025
HELLO SAILFISH FAMILY!!!
Happy Sunday evening to all my Sailfish peeps out there. Great job at yesterday’s meet to all our swimmers and to our coaches, as well. You make us PROUD! You are SWIM-PLY THE BEST!!!
On to the SCOOP for this evening: (🚨Many of these items are NEW tonight - so please take a careful look all the way through.🚨)
DUE TOMORROW:
MEET DECLARATIONS FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 7
This coming Saturday, June 7, we swim at home against Ben Franklin. (Not THE Ben Franklin, mind you. But swimmers from the Ben Franklin Pool. 😉)
🚨Meet declarations are due tomorrow, Monday, June 2, at 4:00 pm.🚨
If you need directions on declaring, click HERE.
If you have any questions about what events your swimmer should swim at this meet, you or your child should speak with their coach at practice on Monday morning.
VOLUNTEER SHIFTS
SWITCHING SHIFTS, CONCESSIONS SHIFTS, & AVAILABLE SHIFTS
If you need to switch a volunteer shift, email KAKIE ATWELL and TARA ZIMMERMAN with the shift you are picking up and the one you cannot make. If you do not have a replacement shift identified, it is your responsibility to find coverage for your shift. If you can't find coverage, consider hiring a teenager 16 years of age or older.
Also, if you are a concession stand volunteer, please do not have your children assist during your shift. We know it's fun, but we want to make sure adults are the ones dealing with the money and food.
It takes a village to run a successful swim team season and we have some extra shifts available. If you are willing to pick up additional shifts, please take a look at the available shifts on our website. Thank you!
SUPER SWIMMERS NOMINATIONS
Now that we're more in the swing of the season, we're excited to announce that one of our favorite programs, Super Swimmers, is back this summer!
This special initiative is all about recognizing the many meaningful (but sometimes quieter) milestones our swimmers achieve beyond just race placements. Whether it’s a breakthrough in technique, a boost in confidence, an improved race time, or simply showing great team spirit, Super Swimmers is here to celebrate it all!
Anyone can nominate a Super Swimmer—yes, parents, that means you too! You’re often the first to notice the hard work, perseverance, and small victories, so we encourage you to submit a nomination for your swimmer.
It’s easy: at any point during the week or weekend, send a quick email to our Spirit Chair, CAROLYN THOMPSON. Include the swimmer’s name and a short note about what they accomplished.
And don’t forget to remind your swimmer (and those you nominate) to check the ribbon box—every Super Swimmer receives a certificate and a small treat to celebrate!

EVENING PRACTICE SIGN-UP:
JUNE 9 & JUNE 11
We offer TWO opportunities for evening practices each week. (As a reminder: per league rules, swimmers need to participate in TWO practices in a week to participate in that week’s meet. We offer these evening opportunities for swimmers who are unable to attend a morning practice.)
Sign-ups for evening practices will appear here each Sunday, for the practices that are still a week away. Evening practices are from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, open to all competitive swimmers regardless of age group, and limited to 18 swimmers. Click the links below to sign up.
The pool is OPEN during these practices sessions — we only use three lanes for our evening practices. Your family is welcome to come swim while your sailfish practices.
MONDAY, JUNE 9 EVENING PRACTICE SIGN-UP
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11 EVENING PRACTICE SIGN UP
STROKE CLINIC SIGN-UP
Each week, our coaches will offer two stroke clinics for swimmers who wish to work on a specific stroke or skill (e.g., turns, diving off the block). These are completely optional, but are a great way for swimmers improve on the small details that can often boost their success at meets. We’ll have stroke clinics each Tuesday and Thursday during the regular season. Sign-ups for the stroke clinics will go out on Sundays, one week prior to the clinics. Space for each clinic is limited. Sign-up below.
*The cost for stroke clinics is $5 per session, payable directly to the coach leading the clinic.

We kindly ask that families SIGN UP for a time either before or after their swimmer's practice. We understand that some families may need to schedule their photos at other times to accommodate summer camps.
Please don't forget to bring your swimmer's team shirt for the photo.
As a reminder, here are the practice times:
