Sailfish Scoop - Wednesday, June 4, 2025

    HELLO SAILFISH FAMILY!!!

Happy rainy Wednesday! Lots of cancelled practices this week because of wind, rain, lightning, hail, and low temps. Thankfully, no dust storms this week! (I hear that all dust storms have a dry sense of humor, so they I’m really glad we’ve avoided that. 😎 )

    Onward with this evening’s SCOOP!!!

    HOME MEET THIS SATURDAY

    AGAINST BEN FRANKLIN!!!!

(Ben Franklin’s team mascot is a Fish. A generic fish. That’s it. Your editor is biting his tongue. 😛)

As usual, you will get an email on Friday with the heat sheet attached, schedule for the day, and other important announcements. Please look out for it.

Until then, here are a few pieces of information you’ll want to know for the day:

    DRESS TO IMPRESS

Has anyone seen Crockett and Tubbs?

Maybe you will at our meet this Saturday!

We’re asking all Sundance swimmers and fans to take a cue from our 2025 team shirts and dress in a Miami Vice theme for all home meets. Yes, hot pink is the new black.

Wear your team shirt, and all the other neon and turquoise you can muster.

Bonus points for anyone who comes dress in character (or with big bangs or a mullet, for that matter…)

    Ferrari Testarossa, anyone?

    BRING YOUR REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES

Our concessions will not be selling plastic bottles of water. As we did last year, we will have a jug of water at the concessions stand with disposable cups available upon request. PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE – it’s going to be hot, and swimmers need to stay hydrated. LaCroix, Gatorade, lemonade and other offerings are available for purchase.

BIG FISH LITTLE FISH CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK!

There’s nothing better than watching our swimmers lift each other up during practices and meets! A big thank you to our Big Fish for being such great role models and showing our Little Fish the true meaning of teamwork!

This week’s challenge: Take a moment to practice the Sundance Sailfish cheer with your Little Fish to help them feel confident and excited to join in! Bonus points if you include a teammate who isn’t part of the Big Fish/Little Fish program—we want every Sailfish to feel proud and ready to cheer loudly together!

    STROKE CLINIC TIME CORRECTION

Thanks to all of you who came to yesterday’s stroke clinic. We apologize for the mix-up with the time and appreciate your flexibility. Please note that all stroke clinics will take place from 4:30 - 5:30 pm on the announced day. We’ll make sure to remind you of this on the forms when you sign up. 😁

JUNE 12 STROKE CLINIC SIGN UP

Despite my middle-child life-long pursuit of perfection and pleasing others, I published a stroke clinic form for June 12  (Turns/Walls) that had an error in it. (It said June 5 on the form, but it was really the June 12 form). Here is a LINK to the corrected form. If you were one of the 16 people who signed up on the June 12 form that said June 5, please know that you are still  signed up for June 12. We have room for 3 more swimmers.

We also still have availability for the following:

    Get ‘em while they’re hot!!!

RSVP FOR SWIMMING UNDER THE STARS

It’s time to RSVP for Swimming Under the Stars; Wednesday, June 18th from 5:30-9:00 PM.

Enjoy a Team Potluck and (back by popular demand) Cookie Bake-Off followed by some well-deserved splash-about fun for swimmers and their coaches.

(NOTE: Your editor won the cookie challenge last year and I intend to win again. So, fair warning, bring your A game.)

Good food, friendly competition, team building, prizes, and, of course, the best summer memories Sundance has to offer.

Can't wait to see you there!

    RSVP HERE!!

All swimmers and their families are invited to join the fun!

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS - SWITCHING SHIFTS, CONCESSIONS SHIFTS & AVAILABLE SHIFTS

If you need to switch a volunteer shift, email KAKIE ATWELL and TARA ZIMMERMAN with the shift you are picking up and the one you cannot make. If you do not have a replacement shift identified, it is your responsibility to find coverage for your shift. If you can't find coverage, consider hiring a teenager 16 years of age or older. Also, if you are a concession stand volunteer, please do not have your children assist during your shift. We know it's fun, but we want to make sure adults are the ones dealing with the money and food.

It takes a village to run a successful swim team season and we have some extra shifts available. If you are willing to pick up additional shifts, please take a look at the available shifts on our website. Thank you!

That’s all for this evening’s SCOOP! Here’s to a success meet against the Ben Franklin Fish (🙃) on Saturday!
