Sailfish SCOOP - Sunday, July 13, 2025

    HELLO SAILFISH FAMILY!!!

    (The coolest coaches in town.)

Well, this is it! It’s your last SCOOP for the 2025 Sundance Sailfish Swim Season! Congrats to all our swimmers and coaches for some GREAT SWIMS at Prelims and Finals. Even more importantly, you represented our community and our team and supported each other as teammates in the best ways possible. That’s what being a SAILFISH is all about!!!

I’ve got a few items to cover tonight. Be sure to read to the end for the answer to this season-closing joke:

Q: Why do sailfish only live in saltwater?

    Now, here’s your SCOOP:

    A HUGE SAILFISH THANK YOU!!!

From our Parent Reps, Brenna and Colleen:

We wanted to thank each and every one of you - our swimmers, coaches, parent volunteers & cheerleaders - for the dedication, sportsmanship, friendship, and support you brought to our spectacular team this season.

When we look back at these days of early mornings and sunscreen, it won't be to reflect upon how fast we swam or whether we won or lost a meet. It will be the memories of WHO WE ARE. Sundance Kids of all ages on the beach volleyball court. Splash contests, potlucks, and Pirate's Cove. Swimming in honor of our angel fish, Gabby Krause. Schlepping ALL THE THINGS to a meet and then gathering under a tent with your best pals. Shedding a few tears at the banquet because you had SO MUCH FUN this season (or maybe it was the jalapeño in your eye again)?!

Summer magic comes alive at Sundance Hills because of the Sailfish - it's a swim team that offers athletes as much opportunity to grow in strength as it does character - and we are so grateful to all of you for helping to make those magical memories possible!

    With gratitude and Sailfish spirit,

    Brenna & Colleen

    THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS

From our Volunteer Coordinators, Tara and Kakie:

Thank you all for your incredible support with volunteer shifts this summer. We truly couldn’t run this team—or host our amazing home meets—without you!

Many of you went above and beyond the required 6 points, often asking how else you could help. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and reliability made a huge difference, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you.

With heartfelt thanks from your (slightly stalkerish but deeply appreciative) volunteer coordinators,

    Tara & Kakie

    WE WANT YOUR THOUGHTS

The Sailfish Parent Board would very much appreciate hearing your thoughts about your experiences with the team this season. If you are inclined to share them with us, please take a moment to complete this brief SURVEY.

    Thank you for your feedback!!!

    THANK YOU SCOTT & AMY!!!

SWIM A THON RESULTS AND A BIG THANKS FROM BAGS OF FUN

Hey Sailfish! The Bags Team is SO proud of your hard work in the swim-a-thon this year! You all swam 3,405 laps and raised $4,684 (!!!) for kids in our community! That funded 14 Bags of Fun, which are already in the hands of kids who need them. We can't thank you enough. Don't forget to join us at our super fun family event, Bring Out The Bags, on September 27 at Empower Field! We would love to see you there!

AQUAWOLVES TRYOUTS - TOMORROW, JULY 14!

Aquawolves will be holding tryouts on Monday July 14th as a last option to join the year-round swim team. (See flyer attached.)

12 and under swimmers: 6-7pm at Cherry Creek High School 13 and older swimmers: 7-8pm at Cherry Creek High School

For those that are attending, this is an in-water tryout. Your athlete needs to be ready to swim at their start time with suit/cap/goggles. We will have paperwork for you to fillout while you are watching the tryout. Please bring a pen and something to write on.

If you have any questions before hand please EMAIL Coach Lyndsay

ONE FINAL THANK YOU FROM ME

In closing up this season, I want to offer a public thanks to our hard-working, generous, and always kind Parent Representatives, Brenna Kleinsteuber and Colleen Kaufman. Having done the Parent Rep job for two years, I know from experience that there’s much that goes into it, including commitment of much personal time. Brenna  and Colleen have gone above and beyond to ensure that our team provides an exceptional and memorable experience for our kids and community — all done on a volunteer basis. If you see them around, please join me in offering them our collective thanks for all that they did for our team this year.

Brenna and Colleen - Please put your feet up for a bit, enjoy a cool drink (or two) and some quality time with your kids and spouses, and rest up! Job well done!!!

Okay Sailfish - That’s the final SCOOP for this season. If that makes you sad, just think of this:

Sailfish swim in saltwater because pepper makes them sneeze.

(A sneezing sailfish strikes me as particularly amusing… Any person who can come up with some more sailfish jokes for me will be my sole mate.😉 You know where to reach me.)

I’ll be back at you in 10 months or so. Until then, remember…

LIFE IS BETTER AT THE POOL!!!
