Sailfish SCOOP - Sunday, May 10, 2025

    HELLO SAILFISH FAMILY!!!!!

Since today is Mother’s Day, it means two things:

    1. I’m going to start this email by saying  Happy Mother’s Day to all the Sailfish moms out there. You all are the best moms in town!
    2. Our 2026 season starts TOMORROW, May 11. Yahoo!!!!

For those who are returning, welcome back

    (I bet you missed me.)

For those who are new, welcome to our team

(I bet you missed me too. You just don’t know it yet.)

As we have done for the past few years, we will be sending you this newsletter twice a week - usually Sunday and Wednesday evenings. Content will include all the news you need to keep current on all the swim team activities, with a few jokes and Easter eggs thrown in to keep it interesting.

I’m told that my fish jokes are off the scales!!

My pool jokes, however… They’re not so deep.

So you know what to expect, you’ll also be get other regular emails - usually twice weekly from Lyndsay, our Head Coach; and periodically from our sponsorship team.

Read them all. Really. It’s good stuff.

(But don’t worry, there’s no quiz at the end. Just a few side eyes from those who actually did their homework in high school when you miss Funday Monday, etc.)

Okay, we’ve got a lot to cover tonight, so here’s your SAILFISH SCOOP for this Sunday, May 10:

BIG FISH/LITTLE FISH PROGRAM IS BACK!

We’re thrilled to bring back the Big Fish/Little Fish program this season! This fun and optional buddy program is open to all competing swimmers—from our 6 & under group to our seasoned swimmers—and it’s an awesome way to build friendships, pump up team spirit, and cheer each other on across age groups!

Here are the highlights: both Big Fish and Little Fish are encouraged to cheer each other on at practices and meets. But, Big Fish, it’s your time to shine! You’ll be a mentor, a cheerleader, and a role model—showing what it means to be a great teammate. If you're not sure you can commit to that role, no worries—sit this one out!

A quick note to parents: We’re keeping it simple and sweet again this year—no gifts, please! This program is all about building connections, having fun, and showing support—not spending money. Let’s keep the focus on encouragement and team spirit!

    How to Participate:

    1. Fill out this Google Form by May 23rd for EACH swimmer who wants to participate!
    2. Keep an eye on your inbox—we’ll send Big Fish/Little Fish matches by May 26th.
    3. Once you’re matched, watch the SCOOP for fun (and totally free!) weekly ideas and mini-challenges to make the most of the experience! This year our challenges will connect with our SAILFISH Pledge!
    • BIG FISH: Must be 10 or older and ready to cheer, lead, and inspire
    • LITTLE FISH: Ages 6–9—just let us know if they’d like to join the fun (no mudskippers)
    • PARENTS: Help your swimmer stay engaged and tuned in to those weekly updates!

We can’t wait to make memories together this summer! After you sign up, you will be assigned a Big/Little Fish who is counting on you! If you are no longer able to participate at any point, please email Carolyn Thompson or text her at 303-916-1963.

COACH ELISE DEDICATES EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT TO THE SAILFISH

Please join us in congratulating and thanking Coach Elise upon the completion of her Eagle Project

Elise selected the Sailfish as her beneficiary for the project -- two swim platforms for our littlest fishies to gain confidence in the water and use for years to come! From project conception and planning to pitching to the Council for approval to design, build and project management, Elise impressively handled every aspect of her project.

We are so proud of our lifelong Sailfish and grateful for the gift she's given our team!

Pictured in photo: Elise (center), Troop 345 and friends volunteering for Elise's Eagle Project.

That’s all the SCOOP for this evening, Sailfish. Have an AMAZING first week of practice & STAY FLOATY!

Life is better at the pool!
