Sailfish SCOOP - Wednesday, May 27, 2026

    HELLO SAILFISH FAMILY!

There's lots to share before we make Homestead eat our bubbles on Saturday at our first meet of the year! Paul is laid up following knee surgery, so you've got his husband Chris as your humble substitute correspondent. Everyone be kind to the substitute!

    SAILFISH PLEDGE REMINDER

You and your swimmer(s) should have signed a copy of the Sailfish Pledge by now. If you have not yet turned in your signed copy, please do so ASAP (a .pdf of the pledge is attached for you to print if needed.)

This week, we will focus on three themes:

    • S - Strive to do my best! Remember, effort and determination help us all grow!
    • A - Act with kindness and respect toward teammates, coaches, competitors, and spectators!
    • I - Include and encourage others, being a good friend and helper!

Please help to reinforce these themes with your swimmers this week!

    AWAY MEET AT HOMESTEAD

    Saturday, May 30 @ 6767 E. Easter Ave., Centennial, CO 80112

Watch for an email from Coach Lyndsay for detailed information about Saturday's meet!

COSTUME THEME FOR THE HOMESTEAD MEET

The costume theme for this week's meet is:

Cruisin' Into Summer: Pirates, Mermaids, First Mates, Sharks, and Minnows, Oh My!

We want to encourage swimmers and families to join in with the coaches on the costume fun - so find your best nautical look and wear it to the meet!

Remember what the pirates say: We ARRRRR the Sundance Kids!

DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS FOR THE HOME MEET VS. BEN FRANKLIN

Saturday, June 6 @ Sundance Pool

It’s time to declare your swimmers for our first home meet vs. Ben Franklin on June 6!

Declarations for the meet are due on MONDAY, JUNE 1.

    HOW TO DECLARE:

Look 🚨 HERE 🚨 for all the directions you need.

    SAILFISH SPIRIT TABLE

Please encourage your swimmers to swing by our first Sailfish Spirit Table this Friday—before or after practice—to dive into some team fun! Your swimmer will find everything they need to get crafty—markers, paper, stickers, and more—to make a sign or card to cheer on a teammate. Whether it’s their Big Fish, Little Fish, or just someone who could use a boost, it’s all about spreading the love and building that Sailfish spirit! Pro tip for parents: Once your swimmer finishes their masterpiece, leave it in the car so it’s ready to go for Saturday’s meet! Not into carrying around a sign? No problem! They can still stop by and make a card to hand off to a teammate before the big competition. Let’s keep the positivity flowing—one sign, card, and cheer at a time! For our new Sailfish: the Sailfish Spirit Table will be set up every Friday during morning practices to help pump up our swimmers for Saturday meets!

    PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

We are now on our regular season practice schedule. Look HERE for our morning practice schedule.

    EVENING PRACTICE SIGN-UP

Tomorrow night's (Thursday, May 28) evening practice is full.

The week of June 1, we will have evening practice on Monday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 3, both from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.

Click the link below to sign up!

WEEK OF JUNE 1 EVENING PRACTICE SIGN-UP

Starting June 1, we will be offering two opportunities for evening practices each week. (As a reminder: per league rules, swimmers need to participate in TWO practices in a week to participate in that week’s meet. We offer two evening opportunities each week for swimmers who are unable to attend a morning practice. Of course, 5 practices per week is the best-case scenario.)

Generally, sign-ups for evening practices will appear here each Sunday, for the practices that are still a week away. Evening practices are from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, open to all competitive swimmers regardless of age group, and limited to 15 swimmers.

The pool is OPEN during these practice sessions — we only use three lanes for our evening practices. Your family is welcome to come swim while your Sailfish practices.

    STROKE CLINIC SIGN-UP

Each week, our coaches will offer two stroke clinics for swimmers who wish to work on a specific stroke or skill (e.g., turns, diving off the block). These are completely optional, but are a great way for swimmers improve on the small details that can often boost their success at meets. We’ll have stroke clinics each Tuesday and Thursday during the regular season. Sign-ups for the stroke clinics will go out on Sundays, one week prior to the clinics. Space for each clinic is limited. Sign-up below.

*The cost for stroke clinics is $5 per session, payable by Venmo prior to the clinic: @sundance_sailfish

    Tuesday, June 2, 5:30 - 6:30 PM FREESTYLE AND/OR BACKSTROKE

    Thursday, June 4, 5:30 - 6:30 PM BREASTSTROKE

SIGN UP FOR STROKE CLINICS HERE.

Good luck to everyone at the meet on Saturday. We are the Sundance Kids, and that means we compete hard, but also win (and lose) with grace and pride!

Thats the SCOOP for this Wednesday, May 27!

Life is better at the pool!
