Sailfish SCOOP - Sunday, May 31, 2026

    HELLO SAILFISH FAMILY!!!

    Happy Sunday afternoon to all!!!

I’m happy to say that I’m back in action! (Well, at least sitting up on the couch.) Once I’m back in the water, my new knee is going to be great for swimming. (Too bad the rest of me is still the original model!) Thanks to my husband, Chris, for being my ghostwriter last Wednesday while I was out of sorts.

I’ve a good bit to cover in today’s SCOOP - so let’s get to it!

    THEME FOR THE WEEK

This week’s emphasis, taken from our Sailfish Pledges is:

L - Listen and learn, using challenges to grow in confidence and athleticism.

Our coaches will be emphasizing this theme during practices this week. Please emphasize this with your swimmers, too!

    FUNDAY MONDAY

Every good Sailfish knows - Mondays are always a fun day!

Games and donuts coming your way at the end of practice tomorrow!

    Don’t miss it!

(If your child is gluten-free, no worries - there's a special treat for them too.)

We want to ensure everyone goes home happy, so please remind your swimmer to be mindful of the one-treat limit. Thanks for helping to keep things fair and fun!

    DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS

If you need a refresher course on how to do this, please look HERE.

DRESS-UP THEME FOR OUR JUNE 6 MEET

The theme for this meet is SUNDANCE PRIDE

Dress to impress in your rainbow best to celebrate love, friendship and our amazing neighborhood. (Kudos to the parent in attendance who wears the oldest Sailfish shirt!)

    We are the Sundance Kids!

    SUPER SWIMMER NOMINATIONS ARE BACK!

One of our favorite programs, SUPER SWIMMERS, is back this summer!

This special initiative is all about recognizing the many meaningful (but sometimes quieter) milestones our swimmers achieve beyond just race placements. Whether it’s a breakthrough in technique, a boost in confidence, an improved race time, or simply showing great team spirit, Super Swimmers is here to celebrate it all!

Anyone can nominate a Super Swimmer—yes, parents, that means you too! You’re often the first to notice the hard work, perseverance, and small victories, so we encourage you to submit a nomination for your swimmer (or ANY swimmer you want to recognize).

It’s easy: just send a quick EMAIL to our Spirit Chair, Carolyn Thompson. Include the swimmer’s name and a short note about what they accomplished.

And don’t forget to remind your swimmer (and those you nominate) to check the ribbon box—every Super Swimmer receives a certificate and a small treat to celebrate!

BIG FISH / LITTLE FISH WEEKLY CHALLENGE

We hope your swimmer had a chance to meet their Big Fish or Little Fish this week—either at practice or during the Just-for-Fun meet! Bonus points if you've already snapped a photo together (and if not, feel free to EMAIL one in at any point)!

NEXT UP: Your mission is to add your swimmer’s Big Fish/Little Fish to your SwimTopia app so you can keep track of their events and be ready to cheer them on when they hit the water!

This week our pledge focus is on having a GROWTH MINDSET. How can you encourage your Big Fish/Little Fish to grow this week? Maybe it’s achieving a personal best at practice or at a meet, or maybe it’s even just having a positive attitude if you come up short. The first team to EMAIL something specific they said to encourage each other to grow this week will win a prize!

Let’s keep the connections strong and the encouragement flowing!

    That’s the SCOOP for today.

As is often the case - I’ll leave you with a joke! This classic is dedicated to all our new-to-team families and swimmers. (Teach your children well…)

Q: What do you call a fish with no eyes?

    A: FSH.

    Have a great week ahead!

Life is better at the pool!
